Guinea Fowl

We saw a lot of guinea fowl, especially in Chobe. They live in large flocks running around on the ground. We saw them fly, but not often. They make a lot of noise!

Most them have dark skin on their heads. A few have the bright blue in this photo.

Our guides said they eat guinea fowl sometimes. They taste like chicken!

Red-billed Spurfowl

We also saw another bird that looks similar to guinea fowl. These are spurfowl.

They belong to the same order as guinea fowl, along with chickens, turkeys, and quail, but they're in a different family with different behaviors.
