We were driving across a wide open field when Oliver spotted this guy peeking out of a hole in the ground.
Aardvarks dig a lot of burrows in all the areas we visited. We never saw any of the nocturnal aardvarks, but they eat ants and termites and then move on. Other animals make their homes in the burrows, sometimes raising young in them.
So that face is a bat-eared fox. Esefa circled around the hole with the jeep, but the fox never came out. I don't blame it. Such a giant vehicle must be scary to such a little one!
