Lilac-Breasted Roller

The Lilac-Breasted Roller is one of our favorite birds. All their wonderful colors shine when the light is good. We saw a few of them at each of the safari camps, but usually off in the distance or quickly flying past.

We were all thrilled to meet the one above, close to our jeep near the Karangoma camp.

These photos are the same species, but all on separate days with different lighting. Some are in the Selinda Reserve and others in the Okavango Delta.

In-flight photos are devilishly hard to get. Mine is terrible, but it hints at what you see in real life.
