You'll notice that these zebra have shadow stripes between wider bold stripes. That's distinctive of Burchell's subspecies. And the zebra above has a diamond pattern on its forehead. That's also common in Botswana.
Many places we visited were dry savanna. There, herds of zebra kicked up a lot of dust so the animals got quite dirty.
Occasionaly, we saw zebras out in the water. To get a good photo of a zebra, you need a clean one!
In this same year, 2025, scientists won the Ig Nobel prize with a curious study. They painted zebra stripes on cows. The experiments showed that this reduced bites from flies!
