We saw impala every day. Frequently we saw kudu among the impala. But we also saw other antelope occasionally.
Above is a waterbuck. They are large, but not quite as big as kudu. Seen from behind, waterbuck have a white ring around their rump. Everyone called it their toilet seat stain!
Reedbucks look a lot like impala. However, impala have a thin tail, while reedbuck have the wide furry tail seen above. Impala also have dark scent glands on the back of their hind legs. Reedbuck, and all the other Southern antelope, lack these black spots.
Red Lechwe also look like impala at a distance. But the hind legs on lechwe are much longer than their front legs. Lechwe are also larger and stockier than impala, and of course, they have no scent glands on their legs.
